Who did the testing
NCR Consumer Advocacy Group described itself as the largest publisher of independent third-party testing, ratings and reviews for the gutter cover and home improvement industry, based in Raleigh, NC. Their testing used a physical test stand — a simulated roof section with isolated test bays, a controlled rain simulator, and a mix of contaminants meant to approximate real-world runoff — and they rated each gutter guard brand across six categories: value, protection, industry reputation, strength, water throughput and durability.
Where we got it
NCR's site, gutterprotectionreview.org, is no longer online. Every page quoted or referenced on this site was pulled from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, which keeps historical snapshots of web pages. Each review page on this site links to the exact Wayback snapshot it draws from, with the capture date, so you can see the original for yourself.
Why this site exists
This is a gutter guard information site. We are not NCR Consumer Advocacy Group, we have no connection to them, and we make no claim to have performed any testing ourselves. We're preserving and organizing real third-party findings that would otherwise have disappeared when that site went offline, with full credit to who actually did the work.
A note on fairness
NCR's own pages disclosed that they sold research reports to manufacturers and ran a paid installer-verification program — worth knowing when weighing their ratings. We're passing that along rather than leaving it out.
